Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful have shared a new release window for their sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer, Replaced, confirming that the highly anticipated game will now launch in Spring 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The announcement came via a new development update video, where the team walked fans through behind-the-scenes progress and showcased how the project has evolved over the years.
A Message from the Developers
“We know that our community is incredibly excited to play Replaced and it’s no secret that it’s taken longer than we initially thought to deliver that to you all — we apologise for that,” said Game Director Yura Zhdanovich.
“We’ve always been trying to do what’s right for the project, which in turn, means delivering to you a truly special experience. The good news is that we now are very close to finishing production and Replaced will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2026.”
A Dark Vision of an Alternate 1980s
Replaced takes place in an alternate 1980s America, where players step into the role of R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence trapped inside a human body against its will.
Set in and around the decaying sprawl of Phoenix-City, players will uncover a world shaped by corruption, greed, and a catastrophic nuclear event. In this dystopian society, the powerful exploit human lives — and even organs — as mere currency.
The game blends cinematic platforming, pixel art visuals, free-flow action combat, and deep narrative choices, all within a single-player experience designed to immerse players in its grim yet striking vision of the past-future.
One of the Most Anticipated Indies
Since its show-stealing debut, Replaced has been considered one of the most anticipated indie games on the horizon.
Fans will finally be able to explore Replaced’s world when it arrives in Spring 2026.
