Godbreakers just hit a huge milestone with 50,000 Steam wishlists, and to celebrate, To The Sky and Thunderful have released a brand-new gameplay deep dive trailer. In it, Design Director Reza Hedayati walks players through the game’s fast-paced combat, the importance of synergy with “fragments,” and the devastating godbreak mechanic that defines its co-op chaos.
A Closer Look at Combat
In Godbreakers, players take on the role of humanity’s vessels, resurrected by celestial beings to battle the Monad, a rogue artificial intelligence. The key to survival? Stealing powers from your enemies mid-battle and unleashing them back with even greater force. Cancel actions for precise control, chain strikes, and create wild combos that keep every encounter dynamic.
The deep dive trailer shows how these mechanics fit together, blending razor-sharp reflexes with strategic build experimentation. By combining different fragments and abilities, players can evolve their playstyle with each run, ensuring no two battles feel the same.
Cooperative Chaos
Godbreakers is built for 1–4 players, with frenetic co-op action at its core. Teams must coordinate abilities, chain attacks, and adapt on the fly to survive the game’s multi-phase boss fights. Each boss has distinct personalities and evolving attack patterns, meaning communication and timing are as important as raw firepower.
When things reach their peak, players can unleash a godbreak, a devastating, enemy-powered attack that dramatically flips the battlefield.
Exploring Strange New Worlds
Across six vibrant and surreal biomes, players will face unique enemies, hazards, and challenges. Each biome pushes experimentation further, rewarding adaptability and creativity in both combat and strategy. With additional Archetypes, traits, and unlockable weapons, Godbreakers offers near-endless room for player expression.
Demo Available Now
Curious players don’t have to wait long to get a taste. Godbreakers already has a demo available on Steam, giving fans a chance to try out its chaotic combat and memorable boss fights ahead of its full release on PC and PS5 in 2025.
With its mix of co-op action, experimentation, and epic boss battles, Godbreakers is shaping up to be a standout entry in the action co-op genre.
