Hell just opened its doors early. Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developer Anshar Studios have officially dropped the first Painkiller demo for Steam Next Fest, giving players their first chance to dive into its brutal, demon-slaying chaos. Playable now through October 20, the demo offers solo and three-player online co-op action, letting players unleash the series’ signature Stakegun, Electrodriver, and a full arsenal of infernal weapons against endless waves of monstrosities.
To accompany the demo, a brand-new “This Is Painkiller” Gameplay Overview Trailer highlights the game’s intense first-person action, colossal boss fights, and hellish locales. Players can download the demo today and experience the carnage firsthand before Painkiller officially launches on October 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Welcome Back to Purgatory
Painkiller reimagines the cult-classic shooter with a mix of modern co-op gameplay and old-school intensity. Players will battle through nightmarish realms inspired by gothic horror and myth, all while experimenting with explosive weapons, fast-paced traversal, and powerful upgrades.

Painkiller is available for pre-order now on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can choose between the Standard Edition or the Deluxe Edition (which includes the Season Pass), both of which come with the exclusive “Iron Crusade” pre-order skin pack.
A physical edition is also available for PlayStation and Xbox, offering both the “Iron Crusade” bonus and the “Burnished Pride” gold weapons pack.
