After years of anticipation, developer Friends of Safety and publisher Dangen Entertainment have announced that the 80s-inspired action-RPG Kingdom of Night will finally launch on December 2, 2025, for PC via Steam, GOG, Humble Store, and itch.io. A brand-new release date trailer has arrived, packed with new gameplay, story teases, and an original theme song from legendary composer Vince DiCola (Transformers: The Movie, Rocky IV).
Step Into the Shadows of 1987
Set in an alternate 1987, Kingdom of Night follows John, a small-town teenager in Miami, Arizona, whose quiet desert life is shattered when a satanic cult kidnaps his neighbor. Their dark ritual unleashes Baphomet, an ancient evil that plunges the town into chaos. What begins as a rescue mission quickly turns into an epic battle for survival, as John faces corrupted classmates, demonic generals, and horrors lurking in neon-lit streets all before sunrise.
The trailer showcases infernal boss battles, pulse-pounding action, and glimpses of the story that highlight the game’s blend of coming-of-age drama, cosmic horror, and classic 80s adventure vibes.
Classic RPG Design Meets Supernatural Horror
Players can choose from five playable classes: Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer, each with unique playstyles, skill trees, and branching upgrades. The game’s expansive town map is open-ended, allowing players to tackle quests and demon lairs in any order while collecting gear through a multi-tiered loot system.
In addition to its robust single-player campaign, Kingdom of Night features local co-op, allowing players to team up and combine classes to devastate the underworld together.
A free demo is now available on Steam, offering players an early look at this stylish blend of retro action, role-playing depth, and 80s nostalgia.
