Apogee Entertainment and solo developer Eric Manahan unveiled a brand-new look at Lucid, the upcoming “Celestoidvania” 2D RPG platformer, during the 2025 Winter OTK Games Expo alongside confirmation that the game will launch in Spring 2026. The new trailer offers the best glimpse yet at Lucid’s crystal-punk world, fluid mobility, and high-precision combat, all woven into an ambitious narrative adventure.
The video introduces new allies, enemies, and towering boss battles, while spotlighting protagonist Oenn’s evolving skill set as he journeys across the fractured world of Aedyn.
A Crystal-Punk World Shattered by Catastrophe
Lucid follows Oenn, a young Sentinel bound by a promise and driven across a world reshaped by a mysterious calamity. Inspired by the golden era of 2D sidescrollers, Lucid blends tight action, nimble traversal, and rich storytelling into a modern take on the classic platformer-RPG hybrid. Every newly gained ability expands Oenn’s movement options and combat depth, unlocking fresh approaches to exploration and enemy encounters.
Crystal Arts, Airborne Combat, and Flow-State Traversal
The trailer showcases Lucid’s signature Crystal Arts and powerful abilities, including the Crystal Blade, Spear, and Axe. Each ability shifts Oenn’s mobility and combat style, allowing players to craft personalized approaches to traversal challenges, aerial combos, and high-pressure fights.
Exploration emphasizes precision platforming, air control, chained movement tech, and combat that rewards mastery. Upgrades earned through Crystal Shards and rare materials let players empower their Bracers and enhance Crystal Arts through Anointing, pushing builds further in a direction of their choosing.
Formidable Bosses and the Mysteries of Aedyn
Players will face a roster of brutal bosses that test timing, strategy, and adaptability. These encounters are designed to push every skill learned along the journey through regions like the icy ridges of Onyx Ridge, the shimmering Crystal Caverns, and the shadowed depths of Welltown—each part of a vast, interconnected world.
Demo Available Now on Steam
Lucid will first launch on Windows PC via Steam in Spring 2026, with console versions planned to follow. Fans can wishlist the game and download the playable demo on Steam now to experience the opening slice of Oenn’s story and movement-driven combat.
