Singapore-based solo developer abnermtj and Japanese publisher Kakehashi Games unveiled their newest project, Epoch Reset, during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted showcase. The 2.5D anime-inspired cyberpunk adventure is scheduled to launch on PC in 2027, marking one of the more ambitious narrative debuts shown during the presentation.
A Time Machine, a Doomed Future, and Killers Across Timelines
Epoch Reset stars Hector Rodriguez, a struggling scientist who accidentally creates the world’s first functioning time machine, an invention that apparently triggers the end of the world. That’s according to the assassins from the future now hunting him down.
What begins as a simple scientific breakthrough spirals into a multidimensional chase across timelines. Players will jump perspectives, switch protagonists, and explore branching narrative threads as Hector tries to undo the catastrophe he hasn’t technically caused… yet.
A Stylish Anime-Inspired Cyberpunk World
Echoing classic sci-fi anime and modern cyberpunk dramas, Epoch Reset presents striking 2.5D art across cityscapes in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and more. Futuristic silhouettes, neon-washed environments, and expressive character designs anchor a story driven by conspiracies, paradoxes, and desperate attempts to fix a broken timeline.
Players will piece together clues across different eras as they interact with characters whose fates shift depending on Hector’s actions over time.
Wishlist Now Ahead of the 2027 Launch
Epoch Reset is planned for PC release in 2027, with Steam wishlisting available now for players who want to follow development as the project evolves.
