Most Anticipated Game is about promise, and Control Resonant has it in spades. Remedy is returning to one of its strongest settings and pushing it in a new direction, shifting Control’s surreal action into a full stylish action-RPG. The mix of a new protagonist, strange new spaces, and expanded combat systems has our staff eager to get back inside the Oldest House-adjacent weirdness. For fans of Control, this feels less like a sequel announcement and more like an invitation to sink even deeper into a universe we already trust.
Most Anticipated – Control Resonant
Diego: Listen, you tell me I can play more Control and I’m there; you tell me it’s now a stylish-action RPG and I’m moving in. Control had one of the most realized worlds I’d seen in a game and immediately fell in love with how weird it all was, so getting to experience more of that is all I need to be excited for Control Resonant.
Spencer: I remember really digging Control when it first came out, and seeing the trailer for Control Resonant reminded me that I should really replay it. Combining Lynchian surrealism with Remedy’s unique approach to game design naturally made for a slam dunk, and making that into an action-RPG can only make it better in my eyes.
James: I would have been excited for the Control sequel regardless of what that first trailer showed, but having a new trippy environment, a new character, and a third-person combat system that looks fun as hell has me anxiously waiting to get my hands on Control Resonant.
Samantha: I loved Control, and I was intrigued by the teaser for its sequel in the Alan Wake 2 DLC. Finally seeing a full trailer for Control Resonant made it jump to a high spot on my list of anticipated games, and I can’t wait to see where they’re going with the story and universe. The fact that it’s an RPG just has me even more excited.
