Revealed during the latest State of Play, Crimson Moon is a new gothic action-adventure RPG coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 in late 2026. The game blends angels, demons, ancient gods, and brutal combat into a blood-soaked quest to reclaim a fallen city.
The first gameplay and story details paint a picture of a dark, mythic world where humanity’s survival once again hangs by a thread.
A Nephilim’s War Against the Infernal Legion
In Crimson Moon, players take on the role of a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid sworn to the Order of the Crimson Moon. Long ago, the Nephilim helped repel the Infernal Legion and saved humanity from extinction. Now, darkness has returned to the cursed city of Gildenarch.
District by district, players will fight through a decaying gothic metropolis overrun by undead hordes, vampires, and demonic forces. Each reclaimed area pushes back the Legion’s creeping “Hellgrowth,” unlocking new challenges and escalating threats.
The campaign builds toward a final confrontation with Solomon Moore, a sinister vampire lord and the architect of Gildenarch’s downfall.
Fast, Expressive Combat With Mythic Powers
Combat in Crimson Moon emphasizes skill, improvisation, and stylish brutality. Players will use parries, finishers, angelic arts, and transformative abilities to carve through waves of enemies.
Rather than punishing repetition, the game focuses on evolving encounters and replayable, high-intensity missions. Each run is described as a “ritual of resistance,” where players refine their builds and master increasingly complex battles.
The central hub, Sanctus Clypeus, acts as the player’s home base. From the War Table, players can select missions, craft new armor and weapons at the Blacksmith, and prepare for the next incursion into the city. As the Infernal Legion advances, new objectives and threats dynamically emerge.
Solo or Co-Op Play
Crimson Moon supports both solo play and cooperative multiplayer. Players can tackle missions alone or join a friend, with dynamic difficulty scaling and evolving enemy compositions ensuring each mission feels fresh.
Whether fighting side-by-side or venturing alone into Gildenarch’s haunted districts, the objective remains the same: purge the darkness and restore humanity’s last stronghold.
Launching Late 2026
Crimson Moon is currently in final development and is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 in late 2026. More details are expected in the coming months.
