Patattie Games and Curve Games have announced that Wax Heads will launch on May 5, 2026. The cozy-punk record shop sim will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Ahead of its full release, players can get an early taste of the groove during February’s Steam Next Fest, running from February 23 through March 3, where a playable demo will let fans step behind the counter at Repeater Records.
Running Repeater Records
In Wax Heads, players take on the role of the newest employee at Repeater Records, a once-legendary vinyl shop known for pairing the right record with the right customer. As the store struggles to survive in a rapidly changing world, players must chat with an eclectic cast of music lovers and use conversational clues to recommend the perfect LP.
Of course, not every shift has to be productive. Players can choose to slack off with coworkers, explore the shop’s secrets, or fully commit to preserving the spirit of physical music culture.
A Love Letter to Music Culture
Blending narrative-driven gameplay with light puzzle elements, Wax Heads captures the charm of browsing vinyl in a physical space. The game features more than 80 in-game records to discover, over 60 hand-drawn characters to meet, and 30+ original songs performed by the developers, their family, and friends.
Creative Director Murray Somerwolff describes the project as a celebration of human connection through music, recapturing the joy of digging through crates, discovering a new favorite band, or finding the perfect album to match a moment.
Players can try the demo during Steam Next Fest before the full launch on May 5, 2026.
