Developer Patattie Games and publisher Curve Games have released a brand-new trailer for Wax Heads, offering another look at the cozy-punk record shop simulator ahead of its launch next year. The trailer debuted during The MIX Spring Game Showcase and highlights new gameplay features and characters players will encounter.
Wax Heads is currently scheduled to launch May 5, 2026, for PC and consoles.
Running a Legendary Record Shop
In Wax Heads, players step into the role of the newest employee at Repeater Records, a legendary vinyl shop known for matching customers with the perfect record. However, the store is struggling to stay afloat in a rapidly changing music landscape.
Players will spend their time interacting with a wide range of eccentric customers, learning about their tastes and recommending the ideal LP from the shop’s collection. Conversations and choices will play an important role as players try to keep the store alive while building connections with the local community.
Of course, running the shop doesn’t mean players always have to work hard. Between helping customers, players can spend time chatting with co-workers or simply goofing off around the store.
Mini-Games and Creative Activities
Beyond helping customers discover new music, Wax Heads also includes a variety of mini-games and activities. Tphese include poster design, social media management, and other small tasks that help promote the store and keep the business running.
Players will also encounter puzzles, hidden surprises, and even virtual pets as they explore both the shop and locations beyond its walls.
A Cozy-Punk Style
Wax Heads embraces a distinctive comic book-inspired art style, featuring more than 50 hand-drawn customers and vinyl records. The game pairs its colorful visuals with punchy dialogue and an original soundtrack designed to capture the spirit of underground music culture.
The story centers around themes of community, resilience, and the underdog spirit as the characters work to keep their beloved record shop alive.
