Interabang Entertainment and Digital Eclipse have announced the release date for Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, and you might be able to guess it given its thematic relevance.
The colorful side-scrolling beat-em-up is set to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 20. It can already be pre-ordered and is currently sporting a 10% discount, bringing its price to $17.99.
For the uninitiated, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch lets players swap between both titular heroes on the fly, both solo or with a friend, as they “ply their trade to the gates of hell itself,” according to the press release. The game’s combat is also noted in the release to reward mastery, as it isn’t “a typical button-masher.”
“We set out to create a great game set in Kevin Smith’s Askewniverse, and the result authentically represents what makes his movies so memorable and hilarious,” Interabang Co-Founder and Creative Director, Justin Woodward stated. “We’re excited to see what fans of Kevin Smith and arcade beat-em-ups think of it!”
What has Kevin Smith said about Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch?
“We said it was coming, and here it is,” noted Kevin Smith. “An incredible amount of effort and artistry went into Chronic Blunt Punch and I am excited to share that everyone can start playing on 4-20.”
