Developer and publisher Cygames, alongside creative partner CyDesignation, has officially released Granblue Fantasy on Steam. The launch coincides with the game’s 12th anniversary, marking the first time the iconic RPG is available to players outside Japan through the PC platform.
Originally released in 2014 for mobile devices and web browsers, Granblue Fantasy quickly became one of Japan’s most recognizable RPG franchises. The Steam version introduces the long-running adventure to a new audience of PC players.
A Classic JRPG Adventure
Granblue Fantasy blends traditional turn-based combat with a wide variety of character progression systems and strategic mechanics. Players build teams of unique characters while mastering elemental advantages, skill combinations, and powerful summons.
Combat is highlighted by cinematic charge attacks, cooperative chain bursts, and massive summoned creatures that can turn the tide of battle. Players can challenge quests alone or join others for cooperative raid battles.
The game features more than 70 playable classes, allowing players to customize their playstyle while experimenting with different party builds, weapons, and abilities.
A Story-Driven Skyfaring Journey
Beyond combat, Granblue Fantasy is known for its expansive story content and character-driven narrative. The main campaign follows a skyfaring adventure across floating islands, where players recruit allies and uncover new tales throughout the journey.
Each new character includes their own “fate episodes,” which expand on their background and personal story. These fully voiced sequences provide deeper insights into the world and the crew that players assemble along the way.
Optimized for PC
The Steam version introduces a 16:9 widescreen interface, replacing the vertical layout used in the original browser and mobile versions. The updated format provides a presentation better suited for PC monitors.
Players outside Japan can access the game using their Steam accounts, though the service will not be available in Japan. The PC version supports both English and Japanese.
It’s important to note that the Steam release does not support transferring existing accounts or save data from other platforms.
Launch Celebration Giveaway
To celebrate the Steam launch, Cygames is hosting a social media giveaway where fans can win a Steam Deck OLED or a set of Granblue Fantasy acrylic keychains.
The event runs from March 10 through March 24 (JST). Players can participate by following the official Cygames English account on X and reposting the giveaway post during the event period.
Granblue Fantasy is now available to play on Steam.
