Aniimo adds PS5 and Epic Games Store ahead of 2026 launch

Aniimo is expanding its platform lineup, with Pawprint Studio confirming launches on PlayStation 5 and the Epic Games Store alongside previously announced systems.

The free-to-play RPG is still set for a 2026 release and will now arrive across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox PC), and mobile. Wishlisting is live across console and PC storefronts starting today.

A broader launch across all major platforms

Aniimo was already targeting a wide release, but adding PlayStation 5 and Epic Games Store rounds it out into a full multi-platform push. It puts the game in reach of most players at launch, which makes sense given its free-to-play model.

The game centers on exploring the world of Idyll, collecting creatures known as Aniimo, and using a system called “Twining” to merge with them and access their abilities. That mechanic seems to be the main hook that separates it from other creature-collection RPGs.

Beta feedback shaping the final release

The announcement follows the game’s largest beta test so far. According to Pawprint Studio, that test brought in new players and feedback that will carry into the final version.

There’s no firm date for the next beta yet, but more testing phases are planned ahead of launch. If you missed the last one, you’ll likely get another shot before release.

Playable demo coming to PAX East

Aniimo will also be playable at PAX East this week in Boston, giving attendees a hands-on look at the latest build.

The demo includes a new creature called Hoptail, which stores electrical energy and uses it for movement and attacks. Players at the event can explore parts of Idyll, test the Twining system, and check out additional features like the RV and Homeland systems.

A familiar formula with one key twist

Aniimo fits into a crowded genre, so the Twining mechanic will need to carry a lot of weight. Merging with creatures instead of just collecting them could help it stand out, but it depends on how deep that system goes.

For now, the wider platform rollout and continued beta support show the team is aiming for a large audience at launch.
