Town of Zoz Out Now on Steam

Town of Zoz is now available on PC via Steam, with Balor Games and Studio Pixanoh launching the narrative RPG today.

Set in a village shaped by Latin American culture, Town of Zoz follows Ito, a young shaman chef who returns to his family’s farm and restaurant only to find mysterious forces threatening the town. The game blends story-driven exploration with cooking, combat, farming, and relationship-building as players work to heal the village and uncover its hidden past.

A story about cooking, community, and mystery

In Town of Zoz, players step into Ito’s role as he reconnects with his home and its people. As darkness begins to spread over the village, Ito sets out to uncover the secrets behind it while helping friends, family, and neighbors through magical recipes and acts of courage.

The game centers on building bonds with townsfolk, with meals playing a major role in how players solve problems and strengthen relationships. According to the developers, dishes like pupusas, beef empanadas, and tres leches are woven directly into the game’s progression and story.

Combat, farming, and magical cooking

Alongside its narrative focus, Town of Zoz includes fast-paced combat against magical creatures, with Ito fighting alongside Zee, a shapeshifting spirit companion. Players will also be able to gather ingredients, harvest crops, and prepare meals that provide buffs for tougher encounters.

The game also features Village Nightmares, dungeon-like areas born from the minds of villagers. These sections contrast with the lighter farming and cooking systems, giving the game a mix of high-stakes action and quieter community-focused moments.

Inspired by Latin American culture and classic RPGs

Studio Pixanoh describes Town of Zoz as a love letter to anime and the Y2K era of JRPGs, while also drawing heavily from Latin American food and culture. The game’s recipes and themes were influenced by personal memories of the development team, particularly those related to food, family, and shared traditions.

That cultural focus carries through the game’s setting, characters, and art direction, with the world of Zoz built around a modern fantasy style and hand-crafted visuals.
