Neverway is set to launch in October 2026 for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch, developer Coldblood Inc. announced alongside a new trailer and a free playable prologue now available on Steam.
The life sim RPG with psychological horror elements follows Fiona, a woman who leaves her dead-end job to start over on a farm, only to become the immortal herald of a dead god. The newly released prologue offers an early look at both the opening of the game and a later section that hints at the darker reality beneath Fiona’s new life.
Free prologue available now on Steam
The Neverway prologue is available now as a free download on Steam. According to the team, it includes around an hour of gameplay, beginning with Fiona’s arrival at her new island home before shifting into a later segment that reveals more of the game’s psychological horror angle.
That section places players in a strange simulation where Fiona begins to uncover memories and confront the nightmare reality known as Neverway, which is gradually blending into her everyday life.
A life sim mixed with horror and action RPG elements
In Neverway, Fiona must manage her new life while dealing with friendships, farming, and a growing supernatural threat. The game blends life sim systems with RPG progression and horror, placing equal weight on building relationships and surviving the increasingly disturbing forces surrounding her.
The story centers on Fiona’s attempt to hold her life together as something far more dangerous begins to intrude on her world.
Soundtrack by Disasterpeace
The game’s soundtrack is led by Disasterpeace, whose previous work includes Fez, Hyper Light Drifter, and It Follows. The music is paired with Neverway’s monochrome pixel-art presentation, which the new trailer highlights in greater detail.
