Wii U System Update This Week

Nintendo’s big update to drastically improve Wii U system load times, coming this week, adds more than just quicker loading.

Wii U owners will be able copy saved data between USB drives but it’s not clear as to what this exactly entails. Hopefully this will lead to users being able to take their Nintendo Network ID from one Wii U to another.

Games will now be able to update in a new standby mode, as well as  background download and install eShop purchases while another game is being played.

The Wii U will also be able to boot directly into  Wii Mode if players hold the B button during startup.

The day following the update Nintendo will be launching the Wii U’s Virtual Console.
