SK hynix Launches New Line of SSDs

Out today with a their Gold S31 SK hynix is launching a new line of internal solid-state drives, the SuperCore series.

The Gold S31 (S3- SATA III, 1-fist generation) boasts some pretty impressive specs, with 3DNAND,  sequential read speeds up to 560MB/s and an impressive 5-year warranty. Actual speeds will ultimately depend on the users existing hardware and software, but any modern machine should be able to squeeze a lot of power out of one of these SSDs.

Previously SK hynix has manufactured and supplied mostly OEM parts for PC manufacturers but with this entry and the debut of the SuperCore Series they look to expand into the direct to consumer market. Currently the Gold S31 is only available on Amazon in 1TB, 500 and 256GB options, but hopes to distribute to more shops across North America and Europe with the release of a PCIe model coming in 2012.
