Disney’s Aladdin and The Lion King Get Magical Special Editions

Nighthawk Interactive and iam8bit have announced that the Aladdin and Lion King 16-bit re-releases will be receiving special editions. These special editions, dubbed the Retro Edition, seek to emulate the original clamshell (Genesis) or boxed-with-tray (SNES) packaging of the classic titles. The package includes an exclusive poster, retro-style game manuals, and the aforementioned retro packaging. This special edition will cost $49.99.

iam8bit will also be releasing new cartridges that feature the update versions of each game. Both cartridges will have a limited run of 4,500 units, with a 1-in-8 random chance of receiving an ultra-limited alternate glow-in-the-dark cartridge of each. The Aladdin cartridge will be compatible with NTSC Sega Genesis consoles, and EU Mega Drives, which The Lion King will be compatible with the SNES. These cartridges will cost $99.99 each on iam8bit’s site, and will ship in early 2020.
