Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids Brings Action-Strategy Chaos from X-COM Creator

Arc Games and Snapshot Games have revealed Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids, an action-packed RTS adventure that fuses third-person combat with real-time strategy mechanics. Developed by Julian Gollop (X-COM, Phoenix Point) and his team at Snapshot Games, Chip ‘n Clawz aims to deliver a fun, accessible spin on classic strategy gameplay.

A free demo will be available during Steam Next Fest (Feb. 24 – Mar. 3), giving players their first chance to battle against the Brainioid invasion ahead of the game’s PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch this spring.

A Fresh Take on Strategy from the Master of the Genre

Julian Gollop and Snapshot Games set out to create a game that combines deep strategy with fast, engaging action—without the steep learning curve often found in RTS titles. The result is a co-op-friendly adventure featuring dynamic battles, base-building, and large-scale warfare wrapped in a colorful, comic book-inspired world.

“We know players love real-time strategy games, but some want an experience that’s easier to pick up, more action-packed, and fun with friends. With Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids*, we’ve created a dynamic and accessible RTS that brings something fresh to the genre,”* said Gollop.

What’s in the Steam Next Fest Demo?

Players eager to try Chip ‘n Clawz won’t have to wait long. The first-ever demo will be playable during Steam Next Fest (Feb. 24 – Mar. 3), featuring:

  • Online & local co-op for the campaign
  • PvP multiplayer battles
  • Four story missions & two challenge levels
  • Two PvP maps
  • Base-building, minion-commanding, and strategic battles
