Detective Kaname Date is back, and he’s running on zero sleep. Spike Chunsoft has officially announced No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, the latest entry in the AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES series, launching July 25 for Nintendo Switch and Steam.
A new case unfolds as internet idol Iris Sagan (A-set) is abducted by a UFO and forced into a high-stakes game known as The Third Eye Game. At the same time, a mysterious coffin-like device appears in the city with a cryptic note attached: “Psync me.” With only a fragile line of communication linking him to the missing Iris, Date, alongside his ever-sarcastic AI-Ball partner Aiba, dives into another bizarre and mind-bending investigation.
New “Escape” Sections Add a Twist to the Series
Like previous entries, No Sleep For Kaname Date blends three core gameplay elements:
- Investigation – Search crime scenes, gather evidence, and interrogate suspects.
- Somnium – Enter and manipulate the dreamscapes of key witnesses and suspects.
- Escape – A brand-new gameplay mechanic where players must solve puzzles to break free from locked rooms.
The game’s development is led by director Kazuya Yamada, with AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi overseeing as series director. Returning talent includes Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening, No More Heroes) as character designer and Keisuke Ito as composer.
