Quantum Witch, the whimsical yet haunting debut from solo UK-based developer NikkiJay, officially launches today on PC via Steam. Blending queer-led storytelling, hand-crafted pixel art, and branching narratives full of wit and weirdness, Quantum Witch invites players on a multiversal adventure that’s as unpredictable as it is heartfelt.
Queer Magic Meets Multiversal Mayhem
At the heart of Quantum Witch is Ren, a farm girl from the land of Hus whose life takes a strange turn after encountering what may—or may not—be an old god. With the support of her wife Tyra, some unexpected magical talent, and a world-hopping cast of oddballs (including a skeleton who sees through time), Ren is pulled into the unpredictable QVerse, where each choice you make echoes across dimensions.
Every action has consequences, and Quantum Witch doesn’t shy away from them. The game features multiple endings, side quests, and branching dialogue paths that allow for both hilarious and heartbreaking outcomes. Whether you’re petting a cosmic cat or navigating cults, robots, and fish pilgrims, no two journeys will be alike.
A Personal Story Told With Heart
NikkiJay’s story is as compelling as the game itself. Entirely self-taught, she channeled her experience leaving a high-control cult and embracing her queer identity into a game that challenges players to think about agency, identity, and the meaning of freedom.
Backed by contributions from BAFTA-nominated writer Paul Rose and games critic Stephanie Sterling, Quantum Witch delivers a warm, irreverent script that balances cosmic absurdity with emotional weight.
