Troy Baker Joins MOUSE: P.I. For Hire as Noir Detective Jack Pepper

Award-winning actor Troy Baker has officially been cast as the lead in MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, a stylish noir-inspired FPS developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide Studios. The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2025, alongside a brand-new trailer showcasing Baker’s debut as Private Investigator Jack Pepper.

A Voice Worth Squeaking About

Best known for his performances as Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, and most recently as Indiana Jones in The Great Circle, Troy Baker brings serious noir chops to the role of Jack Pepper—a decorated war hero turned grizzled detective. As Pepper investigates a classic “damsel in distress” case, he quickly finds himself entangled in Mouseburg’s criminal underworld of mobsters, murder, and rodent double-crosses.

“I’ve been following MOUSE since it was first teased,” said Baker. “Its art style, gameplay, and 1930s film-noir aesthetic continue to win me over. I can’t wait to keep working with the team to bring Jack Pepper to life.”

Noir With a Bite

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire isn’t your average first-person shooter. Set in a world brought to life with hand-drawn rubber hose animation, the game channels the spirit of 1930s cartoons with a darker, mature twist. Think Cuphead meets Max Payne.

Players will shoot, sleuth, and survive in the monochrome mayhem of Mouseburg, a city filled with crooked cops, rival gangs, and mysteries begging to be solved. The developers are aiming for a release sometime in 2025.

About the Game

  • A seedy rodent underworld filled with colorful (and dangerous) characters
