Arc Games and Snapshot Games have officially launched Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids, a vibrant action-strategy mashup from legendary X-COM creator Julian Gollop. The game is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $29.99, with a 10% launch discount running through September 2.
Blending real-time strategy with third-person action, the game drops players into a Saturday morning cartoon-style world invaded by the bizarre Brainioids—brain-in-a-jar aliens with a penchant for chaos. Players can collect Brainium crystals, build bases, command armies, and dive into combat themselves, creating a unique hybrid that rewards both strategic masterminds and button-mash brawlers.
Play Solo or Team Up
Players can tackle the story campaign alone or with a buddy, either online or in split-screen couch co-op. For competitive types, Chip ‘n Clawz includes PvP options like 1v1, 2v2, and split-screen battles—complete with cross-platform play.
To sweeten the launch, Snapshot is offering a Friend’s Pass, letting one player who owns the game bring along a friend for free in co-op or PvP. Friend’s Pass is available on all platforms and supports cross-play, meaning you can jump into battle with anyone, anywhere.
Cartoon Chaos Meets RTS Depth
Alongside base-building and troop command, players directly control the heroic duo Chip and Clawz, upgrading their abilities and fighting on the battlefield alongside their armies. Each mission offers pick-up-and-play action with deeper layers for those who want mastery, plus over-the-top boss battles that challenge both tactical planning and fast reflexes.
Wrapped in comic book-inspired visuals, the game features hidden collectibles like comic pages and blueprints that flesh out the story of the Brainioid invasion while unlocking upgrades and new abilities.
A Word From the Creator
“With Chip ’n Clawz vs. the Brainioids, we created a game that feels just as rewarding for a veteran of real-time strategy games as it does for someone completely new to the genre,” said Julian Gollop, CEO of Snapshot Games. “Whether someone wants to charge straight into a fight or plot from afar, we built an experience where everyone and anyone can jump in, find their style, and have fun.”
