Indie publisher WhisperGames has announced that Paraside: Duality Unbound, the upcoming turn-based strategy game from Mistold Games, has officially launched its first public demo as part of Steam Next Fest in October 2025. After months of testing and iteration based on community feedback, players can finally experience the game’s unique blend of tactical wargaming, exploration, and base management.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world besieged by an extradimensional threat, Paraside: Duality Unbound challenges players to lead the last remnants of humanity through high-stakes battles, interstellar exploration, and strategic decision-making. The key to victory lies in mastering the game’s Flip mechanic, a system that lets players literally turn the tide of combat—and the battlefield itself—on its head.
A Turn-Based Tactician’s Dream
At its core, Paraside: Duality Unbound is designed to push players to think several steps ahead. The Flip system transforms each encounter into a living puzzle, combining risk and reward through Go-inspired tactics in the Surround and Kill system. Every match encourages creative play, allowing players to experiment with dual-sided strategies, RPG-style customization, and classic wargame principles.
The developers tease that the Flip mechanic’s influence may go beyond the battlefield in future updates, hinting that even time, life, and death could be subject to inversion in later builds.
Two Modes, Endless Possibilities
The demo features two major gameplay modes, each showcasing a different side of Paraside’s tactical depth:
- Combat Mode introduces players to the Flip mechanic, emphasizing its puzzle-like combat and layered strategic systems.
- Exploration Mode allows players to roam an open world, gather resources, engage in side quests, and manage their growing base of operations.
Base management plays a crucial role in progression. Players can recruit unique agents, upgrade facilities, and research technologies to enhance their tactical options in future battles. According to Mistold Games, these two modes will be seamlessly integrated into the full release, creating a unified narrative experience that blends story, strategy, and discovery.
A Promising Entry in Tactical Sci-Fi
With its distinctive fusion of Go-inspired tactics, narrative ambition, and multidimensional strategy, Paraside: Duality Unbound stands out as one of Steam Next Fest’s most intriguing debuts.
