The United Citizen Federation is putting out the call once again, this time through publisher Dotemu and developer Auroch Digital, as Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! marches toward an early 2026 launch. Coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this retro-inspired FPS reimagines humanity’s war against the Arachnid threat with chunky pixels, explosive firepower, and plenty of Federation-approved propaganda.
Auroch Digital, best known for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, is handling development, bringing its signature retro-shooter flair to the Starship Troopers universe.
A New Campaign Set 25 Years After the Original Film
Ultimate Bug War! takes place a quarter-century after Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 cult classic. Players step into the boots of Samantha Dietz, a seasoned war hero recounting her pursuit of the elusive, deadly Assassin Bug. Her mission spans familiar battlegrounds like Klendathu, as well as new planets such as Planet P, stitching together a fast-paced solo campaign aimed at FPS fans and Starship Troopers diehards alike.
And yes, Casper Van Dien returns as Johnny Rico, delivering an official Federation briefing to all Civilians aspiring to Citizenship.
Retro FPS Action with Modern Viciousness
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! blends old-school presentation with the chaotic firepower the series is known for. Expect:
• 14 Weapons, including the iconic Morita rifle
• 11 Tactical Supports, from airstrikes to heavy ordnance
• Mech combat, because sometimes you just need bigger guns
• Gloriously gory 3D pixel violence, true to Auroch Digital’s retro stylings
Whether you’re shredding swarms in tight corridors or holding the line on cratered battlefields, everything is built around fast movement, high pressure, and that classic “Would you like to know more?” Federation energy.
Train Hard. Fight Harder. Earn Citizenship.
Alongside the campaign, players can dive into anti-bug combat training modules to sharpen their aim, refine movement, and prepare for the oncoming onslaught of chittering nightmares.
For those devoted to doing their part, Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is available to wishlist on Steam today.
