Warframe is now available for Nintendo Switch 2, with Digital Extremes launching the new version alongside its latest free update, The Shadowgrapher, across all platforms.
The update is now live on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile, marking another big step for the long-running sci-fi action game as it celebrates 13 years and more than 85 million registered players worldwide. For Nintendo Switch 2 players, the launch also brings a range of technical upgrades, giving new and returning Tenno a better way to jump into the Origin System.
Warframe arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 with platform upgrades
Digital Extremes says the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Warframe includes improved frame rate, resolution, load times, textures, and shader quality. The game also supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, giving players another control option on Nintendo’s new system.
As with other versions of the game, the Nintendo Switch 2 release supports Cross Platform Save and Cross Platform Play. That means players can squad up with users on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, Android, and the original Nintendo Switch.
To mark the launch, players who log into Warframe on Nintendo Switch 2 by April 15 will receive the exclusive Ambimanus Pack, which includes a free Warfan weapon along with cosmetics and resource boosters.
“Warframe is officially live on every major gaming platform with full cross-play and save, which feels absolutely wild to say about a game in its 13th year,” said Creative Director Rebecca Ford. “When the next console arrives, you can guarantee we will be there to meet our players.”
The Shadowgrapher adds the 64th Warframe
The headline addition in The Shadowgrapher is Follie, the 64th base Warframe added to the game. Inspired by Rorschach inkblots, Follie brings a new set of abilities built around that unsettling visual theme.
Digital Extremes also released a launch trailer focused on Follie, along with a new original song titled “Drip.” As usual, the studio is leaning into Warframe’s mix of stylish combat, strong visual design, and constant expansion through new story and gameplay additions.
New co-op mode pits players against Follie
The update also introduces Follie’s Hunt, a new co-op mode inspired by online multiplayer survival horror games. In it, four players work together while being stalked by Follie, who reacts to the team’s actions as they move through the map.
That setup gives Warframe a different kind of tension than its usual fast-moving power fantasy. It sounds like Digital Extremes is experimenting with a more reactive and eerie format while still keeping the game focused on team play.
Outside of the major additions, The Shadowgrapher also includes new collectible cosmetics, expanded community social features, and other quality-of-life changes.
Thirteen years in, Warframe keeps expanding
It’s easy to forget how much Warframe has changed since its early days. Digital Extremes notes that the game has grown from an open beta with a single tileset and four playable Warframes into a much larger experience featuring 20 planets, four open worlds, more than 30 quests, and now 64 base Warframes.
Launching on Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time as a major content drop is a smart move. It gives new players a new entry point while reminding longtime fans that Warframe still isn’t slowing down.
