Funcom has announced Conan Exiles Enhanced, a free visual overhaul for Conan Exiles launching on May 5, 2026, for all owners of the game on Steam. Developed in collaboration with Inflexion Games, the update moves the survival game to Unreal Engine 5 and brings a major upgrade to visuals, performance, and world integration.
The timing lines up with the game’s eighth anniversary on May 8, with Funcom positioning the update as a free gift to existing and future Steam players.
Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade Brings Visual and Performance Improvements
According to Funcom, Conan Exiles Enhanced rebuilds the game’s eight years of post-launch content inside a new Unreal Engine 5 version. The studio says players can expect improved visuals, modern rendering technology, and stronger overall performance.
The upgraded version targets 60+ FPS across Low, Medium, High, and Ultra settings on most PCs. Funcom also says the update is built to deliver solid performance on Steam Deck.
Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah Will Connect
One of the bigger changes in Conan Exiles Enhanced is how it handles the Isle of Siptah expansion. For the first time, players who own that expansion will be able to travel freely between the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah instead of choosing one map at the start.
In multiplayer, servers will also be able to support both maps at the same time. That change effectively turns the two areas into a single, larger, connected experience for players who own the expansion.
A New Foundation for the Game
Funcom says the update also includes broader quality-of-life improvements as part of the shift to Unreal Engine 5. In statements attached to the announcement, Funcom Chief Creative Officer Joel Bylos said the team wanted to offer the upgrade for free rather than sell it as a premium re-release, while Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn described the project as a new technical foundation for the game’s future.
Since launching in 2018, Funcom says more than 15 million players have played Conan Exiles.
Steam Only for Now
Conan Exiles Enhanced launches May 5, 2026, as a free upgrade for owners of the Steam version of the game. Funcom says there are currently no plans to bring the upgrade to consoles, the Epic Games Store, or the Windows PC Store, though those platforms are being evaluated for the future.
