Lightbulb Crew has announced that Ex Sanguis will launch in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026.
The tactical roguelite from the creators of Othercide also has its demo back online as part of Six One Indie Demo Days, giving players another chance to try its blood-soaked turn-based combat.
Fight Back Against Stasis
Ex Sanguis puts players in command of the Stillae, elite warriors born from the Sanguis of the Mater.
The game takes place in a dying land drained by the Purge, where blood acts as resistance against the forces of Stasis. Its black-and-white visual style turns red as battles unfold, making each strike feel tied to the setting’s larger fight for life.
Timeline Effects Shape Combat
The new trailer shows off the game’s turn-based battle system, which lets players manipulate the timeline during combat.
Players can speed up, delay, or swap positions in the turn order to create combos and set up stronger attacks. Positioning also matters, with knock-backs, forced facing, flanking bonuses, and damage-over-time effects playing into each encounter.
Use the Battlefield
Ex Sanguis also lets players use the environment to control fights.
Objects can explode, enemies can be ignited, and paths can be blocked to manage enemy movement or line of sight. That tactical layer should feel familiar to fans of XCOM-style games, while still giving Ex Sanguis its own rhythm.
Roguelite Progression and Demo Access
Players will choose paths across the map, taking on harder missions, chasing boss fights, or gathering resources before pushing deeper.
Each run lets players regain memories, unlock powers, and prepare the Stillae with new loadouts and names for the next attempt.
Ex Sanguis launches in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026. The demo is available now during Six One Indie Demo Days.
