4A Games revealed a new Metro 2039 gameplay trailer during gamescom Opening Night Live, giving players a closer look at The Stranger ahead of the game’s February 2027 launch.
The two-minute “Renegade” trailer was captured in-game and shows the new voiced protagonist infiltrating a Novoreich-occupied Moscow.
The Stranger Heads Into Moscow
Metro 2039 follows a new protagonist known only as The Stranger.
The trailer shows more of his past and identity as he slips through Moscow using stealth, gunfire, and brutal first-person combat. 4A Games introduced the footage on stage with Executive Producer Jon Bloch and Co-Creative Director and Audio Lead Pavel Ulmer.
Sevastopolskaya and the Surface
The Renegade trailer also shows several hand-crafted environments.
Players get a look at daily life in Sevastopolskaya station, along with the irradiated surface of Moscow. 4A Games says the trailer highlights FPS stealth action built with the studio’s 4A Engine.
Collector’s Edition Teased
4A Games also shared the first details for the Metro 2039 Collector’s Edition.
Pre-orders will open later this year. The Collector’s Edition will include a replica of The Stranger’s battle-scarred Spartan helmet, marking the first time the series has offered that type of physical item tied to its fiction.
Launching February 2027
Metro 2039 launches in February 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Fans can also register interest in the Collector’s Edition ahead of pre-orders opening later this year.
