Metis Creative has revealed Wane, an occult turn-based RPG in which archaeologist Declan Wayne’s deteriorating memories form the map itself.
Announced during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, Wane combines grid-based tactical combat, three-person party building, roguelike progression, and an antiquarian shop players manage between expeditions. Shoreline Games will publish the title for PC.
Enter Declan Wayne’s Fractured Memories
Wane follows Declan Wayne, an archaeologist losing his sense of self.
His memories have transformed Ravelle into a shifting labyrinth shaped by defining moments, trauma, obsession, and regret. As players push farther into Ravelle, those memories can alter the routes ahead.
Repeated expeditions gradually reveal more about Declan and the people connected to his past.
Build a Three-Person Party
Players recruit adventurers and assemble teams of three before heading into combat.
Battles take place on a grid and emphasize positioning, cover, and line of sight. Percentage-based attacks add uncertainty to each encounter, while attrition, random battles, and bosses pressure the party throughout a run.
Wane features three major biomes: the Ravellian Sanatorium, the Palace of Arvanshah, and the Death Pilgrimage to Erabel.
Each area connects to Ravelle’s history and pieces of Declan’s memories.
Bring Relics Back to the Shop
Between expeditions, players return to Declan’s antiquarian shop.
Players can appraise and auction relics gathered during a run, using the proceeds to improve facilities and fund later attempts.
Continued runs can also open shortcuts, permanent buffs, and new party synergies.
Metis Creative Moves Into Video Games
Wane marks a new medium for Metis Creative, a studio previously known for tabletop games.
Shoreline Games is publishing the project, which has worked with the developer before.
Wane is currently in development for PC. Shoreline Games has not announced a release date.
