Megabit and Red Thread Games released a new Hello Sunshine trailer, showing more of the survival mystery’s heat mechanics, scavenging, co-op play, and the player’s relationship with her giant mechanical companion.
The footage debuted during the PC Gaming Show: Tokyo Direct and gives another look at the ruined settlements and war machines left behind by the Sunshine corporation.
Stay in the Robot’s Shadow
Hello Sunshine revolves around one basic survival rule: stay out of direct sunlight.
During the day, players must stay within the giant robot’s shadow to avoid deadly heat. Moving farther from its protection can lead to better resources, but also increases the risk of exposure.
The temperature problem reverses after dark. Nights become dangerously cold, forcing players to remain near the robot while it recharges at Sunshine Service Stations.
The Robot Becomes an Ally
The latest trailer places added focus on the relationship between the player and her mechanical guardian.
At first, the robot pays little attention to its human companion. That relationship develops as players repair and upgrade it, eventually opening new interactions.
One scene in the trailer shows the robot lifting the player into its hand beneath the night sky.
As the bond grows, the machine can help locate hidden areas, move the player past obstacles, provide protection, and fight hostile war machines.
Scavenge During the Day, Prepare at Night
Players can gather materials from abandoned settlements, storage units, supply drops, and destroyed machines.
At night, players can process recovered resources through a Sunshine Recycler and use them to craft equipment, tools, weapons, and camp components.
Players can also cook, repair the robot, and prepare for the next day while dealing with strangers who may arrive at camp.
Play Alone or With a Friend
Hello Sunshine supports solo play and co-op.
Its larger mystery centers on what happened after Sunshine’s corporate empire collapsed, why automated systems continue fighting, and the identities behind figures and locations such as the Final Employee and the distant white tower.
Hello Sunshine is coming to PC via Steam, with a release date still to be announced.
