Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy tests your investigative judgment—and justice might not be your priority. Owlcat Games has released a new trailer detailing the detective system, showing how gathering evidence and questioning suspects can lead to difficult decisions about who takes the blame.
Cases include missing miners and a murdered Canoness, but finding the truth is only part of the assignment. What you do with it depends on your goals.
Gather Clues and Consult Your Companions
Investigations involve searching for physical evidence, interrogating witnesses and suspects, and following trails with help from the servo-ossarium. You’ll weigh testimony, rumors, lies, and conjecture as you piece together what happened.
Your companions contribute their expertise. Epione offers medical knowledge, Haymar brings survival skills, and Laarthyr provides insight into xenos behavior. Their observations help inform your conclusions as the evidence builds.
Solve the Crime—or Choose a Convenient Suspect
Once you’ve established your interpretation of events, you must decide how to act. You can accuse the most likely culprit or blame someone whose downfall better serves your broader objectives.
That leaves room for investigations to end with a calculated accusation rather than an honest verdict. The Inquisitor bears responsibility for the decision, even when innocence carries little weight.
Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
