Thief: The Dark Project Remastered launches December 3 on PC and consoles, with the new The Tarnished Mirror campaign included at release. Nightdive Studios, Eidos-Montréal, and Atari also opened physical pre-orders, including a collector’s package modeled after the original game’s trapezoid-shaped box.
The remaster includes the 1998 game alongside the missions, content, and updates from Thief Gold. Nightdive’s KEX Engine powers the release and supports player-created mods, including Thief: The Black Parade.
The Tarnished Mirror Connects the First Two Games
Created by the team behind Thief: The Black Parade, The Tarnished Mirror is a self-contained campaign set between The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age. The collaboration brings community-created work into the series’ official canon.
A straightforward theft sends the player into imprisonment, uneasy alliances, and eventually a drowned necropolis inspired by Lovecraftian horror. The campaign adds factions, environments, and enemies while using the remaster’s technology and visual approach.
For returning players, the campaign provides a new story alongside the original missions. Its levels aim for a larger scale while retaining the identity of the earlier games.
