The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel is the official name of Bethesda Game Studios’ next Elder Scrolls game. The studio announced the title as part of its 40th-anniversary celebration, alongside a reveal video and a message from Todd Howard reflecting on the franchise’s history.
ESO Celebrates With Alik’r Awaits Campaign
To mark the announcement, The Elder Scrolls Online is running a free, limited-time Golden Pursuit campaign called Alik’r Awaits. New and existing players can earn rewards by exploring the MMO’s Second Era version of the Alik’r Desert.
The campaign runs from November 3 through November 10, giving players a week to take part. It provides an activity in ESO alongside the name reveal, though the announcement does not describe the campaign’s individual objectives or rewards.
For players returning to the desert—or visiting it for the first time—the promotion offers another reason to spend time in the region while Bethesda begins introducing Sentinel.
Todd Howard Reflects on Four Decades of Games
Howard’s anniversary message looks back at Bethesda’s beginnings as a small Maryland team and the lessons it carried between projects. The retrospective spans early sports games, its work on The Terminator, and the RPGs that became central to the studio’s identity.
It highlights The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and the studio’s relationship with Xbox, followed by its expansion into Fallout. Later releases include Skyrim, Fallout 76, and Starfield, each representing a different approach to scale, exploration, or multiplayer.
Rather than focusing solely on technical progress, the anniversary material emphasizes how the team developed ideas and applied experience from one game to the next.
Bethesda has also opened a 40th anniversary page featuring developer stories, photographs, and memories from across its history. Howard’s full message is available here.
