Faraway is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Published by Annapurna Interactive, the arcade-puzzle game comes from solo developer Steph Thirion, creator of Eliss.
The release arrives alongside a new trailer introducing its shooting-star premise. You create constellations to stay alive, working through randomly generated gameplay that emphasizes experimentation and skill improvement over repeated sessions.
Create Constellations to Keep Your Shooting Star Alive
Faraway builds its central challenge around a shooting star that must design constellations to survive. Its minimal presentation accompanies a demanding arcade-puzzle structure, with randomly generated play providing the basis for repeat attempts.
The emphasis is on learning through play and developing greater control over time. Annapurna describes it as a game built for long-term mastery, with room for expressive play within its central constellation-making mechanic.
That approach also shapes how you can spend time with it. Faraway supports brief sessions for quick attempts, as well as longer stretches devoted to practice and improvement. The launch announcement positions replay as a core part of the experience, giving players reasons to return after their first sessions.
Interactive Music Accompanies Real-Time Visuals
Thirion developed Faraway single-handedly, handling its game design, creative coding, and music. Those disciplines come together through real-time visuals and an interactive soundtrack.
The music is part of the game’s presentation alongside the constellations you create. Rather than emphasizing a large cast or narrative campaign, the announcement centers on the relationship between its arcade challenge, visuals, and audio.
For players familiar with Thirion’s earlier work, Faraway is the next release from the creator of Eliss. It shares a similar focus on a tight concept that players can spend time learning.
Available Across PC and Consoles
Faraway launches across all five announced console versions and PC storefronts simultaneously. You can pick it up on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, Steam, or the Epic Games Store.
