NewsVine – 28th January 2010

I now can’t freaking wait for Mass Effect 2. I was always looking forward to it, but not this by this much. It started after all the reviews I’ve been reading and watching. Friday can’t come soon enough. Now for another day today in the world of gaming.

No LAN or Dedicated Servers for Bioshock 2

Modern Warfare was bashed by the PC community for the lack of dedicated servers, now Bioshock will get the same treatment. Worse of all there will be no LAN which is quite shocking. The game is generally seen a as a single player experience and with news like this the mutliplayer seems like it was a bit of an after thought. 2K Games has said “Either you try to do everything and so nothing feels finished or you focus your efforts to do a smaller number of things really well like an accessible online experience.” So time was a major factor here. Well we can’t judge the whole experience on this knowledge, I will have to reserve that until I get a hold of it in the future.

Metro 2033 Gets A Release Date

I’ve only just heard about this game recently but a release date has been confirmed and it’s sooner than you would expect. The post apocalyptic shooter will come to North American shops on March 16 and those in Europe will get it March 19. The Limited Edition was detailed which includes an in-game exclusive weapon and four “art cards,” however the pricing was not given.

Also Coming out March 16, God of War 3

Sorry Metro 2033, as cool of an apocalyptic shooter you are, you simply cannot compete against the Sony behemoth that is releasing on the same date. The flagship franchise of action mythic proportions, God of War 3 has finalized its release date for North American retailers for March 16, 2010. The game will come in two editions – the standard $59.99 and the ‘Ultimate Edition’ for $99.99.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Demo Out Now on Xbox 360

About time as the demo for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. The Xbox 360 demo will expire on February 25th but its just enough time to for players to try out a piece of the multiplayer component. The PS3 demo is expected to be released on February 4 in Europe then February 11 in North America. The full game arrives March 2nd, with Gamestop pre-order reserves securing an exlcusive ‘Squad Rush’ multiplayer mode for 30 days.

Red Dead Redemption Trailer Shows Off Awesome Weaponry

Rockstar Games has released a new video from the upcoming Red Dead Redemption, a spagetti western that I’m quite infatuated with to be honest. Playing as John Marston, you will encounter a variety of weapons to tackle any situation that range from a sniper rifle to dynamite to even the usage of the first machine gun. In addition, the video showcases the new cover mechanic which looks quite awesome. Look for this game come April 27.
