EA and 38 Studios Announce Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

38 Studios has announced through its publisher Electronic Arts a brand new “open world” single player RPG based on a “mysterious and magical new fantasy world created by New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore.”

The RPG titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is set for release on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. The video game will be developed by Big Huge Games, bought by 38 Studios last year, and has a roster of creative talent behind the scenes. Development is currently being spearheaded by Ken Rolston, lead designer of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion while Spawn creator Todd McFarlane creates the art for Amalur.

The game is tentative for a Fall 2011 release but additional details and a game cinematic are expected to debut at this year’s Comic Con on July 22 where Salvatore, Rolston, McFarlane, and 38 Studios Kurt Shilling will host a panel discussion about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
