MercurySteam’s Blades of Fire Announced – A Brutal Action-Adventure Arrives This May

MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid Dread and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, is back with another dark fantasy action-adventure—Blades of Fire. Announced at IGN Fan Fest 2025, the game launches on May 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Set in a world ravaged by tyranny, Blades of Fire follows Aran de Lira, a warrior gifted with the ability to wield steel in a land where the sinister Queen Nerea has turned all other weapons to stone. Alongside Adso, a scholar with knowledge of forgotten myths, Aran must forge powerful weapons, master tactical combat, and lead the fight against the Queen’s monstrous forces.

A Combat System Forged in Fire

Unlike traditional hack-and-slash games, Blades of Fire introduces a deep weapon-forging system, allowing players to craft custom weapons with near-infinite combinations of alloys, hilts, blades, and runes. Each weapon is designed to counter specific enemy types, encouraging players to experiment with different builds to overcome deadly foes.

  • Customize your blade with 7 weapon families and over 30 unique forge scrolls
  • Master tactical combat by targeting enemy weak points
  • Fight against over 50 enemy types, including undead, beasts, and elite guards
  • Explore a vast world of castles, palaces, and labyrinthine strongholds

A Journey Fueled by Mystery and Myth

Beyond combat, Blades of Fire delivers a rich, atmospheric adventure where players uncover the secrets of the divine forgers. With Adso’s knowledge of ancient tongues, players will decipher hidden lore, unlock legendary weapon materials, and shape the fate of the kingdom.

Release Date and Pre-Order Details

Blades of Fire launches on May 22, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store, priced at $59.99.

Pre-orders are now open, with a 10% discount and exclusive content available for Epic, Xbox, and PlayStation Plus subscribers.
