Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will hold its largest beta weekend yet from May 9-12, ahead of the game’s official launch on June 10. Players will be able to experience up to 20 hours of gameplay, including most of Act 1’s story, in an open beta with no NDA restrictions.
Set on the deadly desert planet of Arrakis, Dune: Awakening blends open-world survival with deep cinematic storytelling, drawing from Frank Herbert’s universe and Denis Villeneuve’s film adaptations. A new story trailer has also debuted, teasing the player’s journey to “Find the Fremen. Wake the Sleeper.”
How to Join the Beta
Players can request access via Dune: Awakening‘s Steam page, or snag one of tens of thousands of beta keys during the Global Dune: Awakening LAN Party Broadcast on May 10. Streamed live from London and PAX East, the event will feature gameplay competitions, developer interviews, and guest appearances.
There’s no NDA for this beta, meaning players are free to stream, post, and share their experiences.
A First Look at Survival on Arrakis
During the beta weekend, players can explore the harsh deserts, encounter deadly storms, and meet a cast of characters through cinematic cutscenes. Dune: Awakening aims to bring narrative depth to the multiplayer survival genre, pushing players to carve out their own destiny in a world shaped by politics, mysticism, and the ever-present threat of the sandworms.
Pre-orders for Dune: Awakening are now live, with Deluxe and Ultimate editions offering a 5-day early access period and exclusive in-game rewards.
