Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.0.6 Adds Critical Role’s Rufino, Nightmare Mode, and First Discount

Ubisoft has launched Title Update 1.0.6 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, bringing a wave of new content and improvements to the March 2025 release—alongside its first-ever discount. From now until July 24, players can grab the game at 25% off on the Ubisoft Store, whether opting for the Standard or Deluxe Edition.

Headlining the new update is a unique crossover with Critical Role, introducing Rufino, a new recruitable side character voiced by Robbie Daymond. Known for his magnetic personality, Rufino brings a fresh flavor of tabletop-inspired storytelling to the game, as well as banter-rich interactions once added to your hideout roster. The new quest involving Rufino goes live starting June 25.

Master the Shadows, Or Die Trying

For veteran assassins looking for a challenge, Nightmare Difficulty has been added, cranking enemy lethality and detection up to brutal levels for players who want to earn their shinobi stripes.

Among the update’s other welcome additions:

  • Visible Headgear in Cutscenes – Hoods, helmets, and other headwear now appear during story moments.
  • Ultra Low Mode on PC – Designed for lower-end machines, this new setting improves framerates while preserving visual clarity.
  • Regional Alert System Expansion – Picking fights with civilians or guards outside castle zones will now escalate to large-scale manhunts across the map.

Ubisoft has also hinted at more updates on the horizon, with a full Year 1 roadmap set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
