Chinese developer Seed Lab is inviting players to carve their own path across the dreamy, pastel-colored landscapes of Starsand Island, the studio’s upcoming tranquil life sim arriving on PC and consoles in late 2025. Featuring anime-inspired aesthetics, a cozy open world, and full multiplayer support, Starsand Island promises to let you play your way, whether that means hanging out with friends or jetting across the beach on a scooter with your dog in the sidecar.
Unveiled during BitSummit 2025, Seed Lab showcased new gameplay footage and revealed fresh details about the game’s extensive character and vehicle customization systems, alongside an impressive variety of traversal options.
Explore the Island Your Way
Whether you’re gliding through golden grasslands on a paraglider or cruising over the ocean in an amphibious hovercraft, Starsand Island gives you total control over how you move. Travel by:
- Skateboards and rollerblades
- Scooters (with or without sidecars)
- Cars, motorcycles, and amphibious vehicles
- Paragliders for aerial views of the island
- Multiplayer co-op with friends or NPCs as passengers
And yes, pets can tag along too.
A robust photo mode will let you capture your chillest moments, whether you’re mid-air in a sunset glide or lounging on a sun-drenched beach with your crew.
Customize Everything
Seed Lab is going all in on personal expression. Vehicles can be fully customized—paint jobs, decals, interiors, and wheel designs—so no two rides ever look the same. The same goes for your character, with extensive sliders for facial features, skin tones, makeup, and a fashion-forward wardrobe of accessories and outfits to make your island persona pop.
According to Creative Director Richardo Wang, Starsand Island is designed with freedom and joy at the core:
“Whether you love socializing, adventuring, or simply enjoying a laid-back lifestyle, there’s warmth and happiness waiting for you here.”
Technical Director Goltan Gao emphasized that player choice is key:
“We’re building a game where they have the freedom to decide how they look, how they travel, and whether they go solo or with friends.”
Seed Lab also confirmed that Starsand Island will receive post-launch content updates, including more multiplayer features, customization options, and social gameplay expansions.
