Cronos: The New Dawn Reveals 10 Minutes of Gameplay Featuring Grotesque Enemies, Time Travel & New Boss “Terror”

Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium and Layers of Fear, has revealed an extended gameplay video for its upcoming sci-fi survival horror title Cronos: The New Dawn. This 10-minute showcase delivers our first deep look into the game’s unsettling dual-world exploration, monstrous enemy design, and the genre-bending mechanics that await players when the game launches this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Two Worlds. One Mission.

The video follows “The Traveler,” an agent from a decaying future tasked with extracting doomed individuals across time before their fates are sealed. Guided by the cryptic travel log of ND 3500, players must navigate two eerie timelines: a ruined post-apocalyptic future and 1980s Poland. The real-world district of Nowa Huta serves as inspiration for the game’s brutalist aesthetic and distorted environments.

From crumbling skyscrapers wreathed in anomaly fog to sterile hospital corridors warped into surreal nightmares, Cronos paints an oppressive picture of the end of time—and then dares you to fix it.

The Merge Mechanic Will Haunt You

One of Cronos: The New Dawn’s most chilling features is the Merge mechanic. In combat, enemies called “The Orphans” don’t simply die. If players don’t destroy their corpses in time, nearby Orphans can absorb their remains, evolving into stronger, faster, and more grotesque mutations. Every missed opportunity becomes a new monster to fear.

Meet “Terror”

The gameplay video also offers a terrifying boss reveal: an entity simply known as Terror. Ominous, powerful, and disturbingly humanoid, this encounter hints at the psychological horror roots Bloober Team is known for—only now wrapped in the skin of a full-on action-survival horror experience.

A New Dawn of Horror

Cronos: The New Dawn promises:

  • A rich, time-travel narrative set across two eras
  • A reality-warped version of Nowa Huta, Poland
  • Strategic, punishing combat with evolving enemies
  • Psychological and body horror in equal measure

The game is set to launch in Fall 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam & Epic Games Store).
