The upcoming co-op pirate survival game Crosswind has set sail toward a Steam Early Access release in 2026, and developer Crosswind Crew has dropped a brand-new trailer to tease what players can expect when the voyage begins.
The trailer offers a first look at the Ashlands, a perilous volcanic biome overrun by undead, and Tortuga, an outpost under siege by relentless skeletal foes. Players will also get a glimpse at ship customization, top-deck crew battles, and the ability to recruit new allies for their adventures.
From F2P MMO to Premium PvE Survival
Originally announced as a free-to-play survival MMO, Crosswind has shifted to a paid multiplayer survival experience focused on polished PvE gameplay. This decision comes after feedback from closed Alpha players, which pushed the team to refine their focus toward solo and co-op play with friends.
The move opens the door to exciting possibilities such as mod support and dedicated servers, giving the community more control over how they play and create on the high seas.
Early Access Goals
Crosswind Crew aims to use Early Access as a collaborative development phase, building new content, features, and quality-of-life improvements based on ongoing player feedback. Planned expansions include fresh biomes, more ship customization options, and deeper crew management systems.
