Amazon Games has announced March of Giants, a free-to-play 4v4 War MOBA for PC currently in early development at Amazon Games Montreal. The studio, led by Creative Director Xavier Marquis, the mind behind Rainbow Six Siege, is preparing for its first Closed Alpha test from September 2–10, 2025. Players in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico can request access now via the game’s Steam page.
A MOBA Reimagined Through the Lens of War
Unlike traditional MOBAs, March of Giants blends the familiar three-lane structure and hero combat with large-scale warfare. Set in a ravaged battlefield inspired by early 1900s technology mixed with arcane science, players take control of towering Giants and command thousands of soldiers in the final stage of a century-long conflict.
The studio calls the game a “War MOBA,” introducing large-scale military themes to the competitive framework of the genre.
“March of Giants represents our vision to bring the epic scale of war to the MOBA genre,” said Xavier Marquis, Creative Director at Amazon Games Montreal. “We wanted to create something that captures the strategic depth of traditional MOBAs while introducing innovative mechanics that let players command massive armies and deploy tactical structures on the battlefield.”
Core Gameplay Features
During the Closed Alpha, players will be able to try out 15 playable Giants, each with unique skills designed for tactical play. Ten Giants will be available from the start, while others unlock as players progress. The game introduces several new mechanics:
- Play as a Giant – Control colossal commanders with unique combat abilities in 4v4 matches.
- Lead Soldiers – Direct thousands of AI troops to defend objectives or push the frontlines.
- Deploy Battleworks – Build tactical structures on the battlefield to outmaneuver rival Giants.
Closed Alpha Details
The Closed Alpha is limited to PC players in North America and will run exclusively in English. As the game is under NDA, participants won’t be able to share gameplay publicly, but their feedback will be instrumental in shaping the game’s development.
