11 bit studios and Digital Sun Games have announced that Christopher Larkin, best known for his acclaimed score for Hollow Knight, will compose the music for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. The sequel to 2018’s indie hit Moonlighter once again blends dungeon crawling with merchant life, this time set against a brand-new musical backdrop that promises to be as adventurous as the gameplay itself.
Larkin’s involvement marks a major creative milestone for the sequel. Fans who adored his atmospheric, haunting work in Hollow Knight can expect something different here: a soundscape full of warmth, whimsy, and colorful tones to reflect the vibrant world of Moonlighter 2.
Christopher Larkin on His Approach
In discussing his work on the project, Larkin highlighted how he sought to expand beyond the stylistic limits of the first game’s music:
“Moonlighter 2’s soundtrack is adventurous—just like Will’s journey. From folk to electronic soundscapes to industrial metal, the music mirrors the unfamiliar, ever-shifting world he explores. Digital Sun encouraged me to go beyond the first game’s stylistic scope, and that freedom shaped a score full of surprises.”
This new range of influences ensures that players will hear something unexpected as they traverse dungeons, manage their shop, and interact with the people of Tresna.
Digital Sun on the Collaboration
Victor Ribera, Creative Co-Director at Digital Sun Games, spoke on the creative partnership with Larkin:
“Working with Christopher on Moonlighter 2 has been a truly rewarding journey. Building on the legacy of his iconic Hollow Knight score, he’s composed music that breathes soul into Tresna and every dimension beyond. Striking a balance between his vision and our world took close creative collaboration—and that connection has been key to crafting an experience that feels cohesive, rich, and deeply immersive.”
