Roboto Games has announced that Stormforge, its highly anticipated cel-shaded fantasy survival game, is opening playtest registration. Players eager to step into its storm-ravaged world can now sign up for early access, with the full Early Access release planned for Q1 2026. Alongside the announcement, the studio revealed the first official gameplay trailer since the title’s reveal in early 2024.
Survive the magical storms
Stormforge is a cooperative survival crafting experience for up to 8 players, set in a world where deadly magical storms dominate the land. Each storm presents distinct challenges:
- Tornadoes that fling debris and enemies through the air
- Dust storms that damage players and obscure vision
- Blizzards that freeze the unprepared
Venturing into storms is dangerous, but also rewarding, as they contain unique resources required to craft powerful weapons, forge resilient armor, and construct shelters capable of withstanding nature’s fury. Players must balance risk and reward, as lingering too long in a storm will eventually consume them.
“Stormforge is about risk and reward in magical storms modeled after real-world tornadoes, sandstorms, and blizzards,” said Curt Bererton, CEO and co-founder of Roboto Games. “This playtest is our first chance to see how players brave the storms, build their world, and shape their own stories.”
A world of exploration and danger
Beyond storms, Stormforge offers a procedurally generated open world filled with lush meadows, windswept forests, ancient ruins, and hidden dungeons. Players can traverse the world by boat or glider, encounter formidable world bosses, and unlock new character classes and abilities upon defeating them.
The game also features seamless modding support, allowing the community to introduce new gear, enemies, environments, and gameplay rules, ensuring long-term replayability.
