Reanimal Steam Demo Extended Indefinitely as Tarsier Studios Plans New Update

THQ Nordic and Tarsier Studios have announced that the Reanimal Steam demo will remain available indefinitely, following an overwhelming community response that pushed the game past 1 million wishlists. The studio also confirmed that an update to the demo experience is in development, aiming to incorporate early player feedback and fine-tune the game’s chilling atmosphere.

Players can dive into the demo now via Steam to get a first look at Tarsier’s next horror masterpiece, a spiritual successor in tone and tension to Little Nightmares.

A First Taste of the Fright

The Reanimal demo opens with the reunion of orphaned siblings known simply as The Boy and The Girl, who find themselves trapped in a hostile and surreal world. Together, they embark on a desperate search for their missing friends across unsettling locales such as the Mill and Trainyard, all while evading Sniffer, a grotesque creature who stalks them through the mist.

Offering both single-player and co-op play, the demo delivers a glimpse of the grim world Tarsier is crafting, one that balances haunting visuals, environmental storytelling, and psychological tension.

The Road to Release

In a statement, Oliver Merlöv, CEO of Tarsier Studios, expressed gratitude for the game’s rapid rise in popularity:

“We’re incredibly grateful for the player response to REANIMAL so far. This level of engagement and feedback will help us deliver an even stronger experience — starting with the upcoming demo patch. Please keep sharing the scare!”

The full version of Reanimal is set to launch in Q1 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can expect more updates and behind-the-scenes content as the studio refines its latest foray into nightmare-fueled storytelling.
