NCSOFT has officially announced Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new global MMORPG developed in collaboration with Guerrilla, the Sony Interactive Entertainment studio behind Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. The announcement kicked off G-Star 2025 with a surprise world premiere trailer showcasing the game’s vast landscapes, colossal machine battles, and the return of Horizon’s signature hunting-action gameplay.
Hunting in the Deadlands
Set in a new region known as the Deadlands, Horizon Steel Frontiers expands the acclaimed Horizon universe into the world of online multiplayer. Players will be able to explore a massive open world filled with mechanical creatures while customizing their combat styles through deep RPG systems designed for both individual hunters and large-scale raids.
The trailer also teases sprawling environments, dynamic weather effects, and cooperative battles that push the series’ mechanical combat to a new frontier.
A Collaboration Between Titans
In a 10-minute gameplay and developer commentary video, Jan-Bart Van Beek (Studio Director and Art Director at Guerrilla) expressed enthusiasm for bringing the Horizon world to a multiplayer experience through NCSOFT’s expertise in large-scale online RPGs. Taekjin Kim, NCSOFT CEO & CCO, and Sunggu Lee, Executive Producer, discussed their vision for combining narrative-driven action with the social depth of MMORPG gameplay.
