A surprise announcement from today’s Xbox Showcase came in the form of Kiln, the latest title from acclaimed studio Double Fine.
The game will be a multiplayer party brawler that lets players create their own fighters out of clay, then battle against others throughout maps inspired by ancient mythology. As for how difficult the pot-making aspect will be, Project Lead Derek Brand told Xbox’s Mike Nelson that it’ll be much easier to make pots in the game than in real life.
“Making pots in real life is really difficult,” he explained. “It takes a lot of practice, and you can get good at it over time, but it is not an easy thing to just jump into. We wanted to make the pot-making super easy and accessible — it’s just a button and a control stick – and you can make any kind of shape you wanted. We wanted people to immediately feel like they’re masters at this craft.”

When is Kiln going to be released, and for what platforms?
Though there’s currently no hard release date for Kiln, it does have a release window of spring 2026, meaning gamers who are anticipating the frantic pottery brawler likely won’t have to wait too long to get their fill. As for which consoles the game will release for, it’ll be arriving on the Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as well as PlayStation 5 at launch.
