Guitar Hero 5 Coming September 1st

The next title in the Guitar Hero franchise will hit store shelves on September 1 according to the game’s official website.

Harmonix’s The Beatles: Rock Band is currently scheduled to arrive eight days later on September 9.

Guitar Hero 5 will allow the use of four instruments of the same type at once, and is set to feature songs from 85 bands.

Songs confirmed:

* Johnny Cash – “Ring of Fire”
* Santana – “No One To Depend On (Live)”
* Bob Dylan – “All Along the Watchtower”
* Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – “Runnin’ Down a Dream”
* Vampire Weekend – “A-Punk”
* The White Stripes – “Blue Orchid”
* The Rolling Stones – “Sympathy for the Devil”
* Kings of Leon – “Sex on Fire”
* Stevie Wonder – “Superstition”
* Iron Maiden – ?

The following artists have been confirmed by website Yahoo Music and Gamespot both of which are participating in a “scavenger hunt” promotion that Activision is running through various sites and outlets.
